Awards & Scholarships
Important Deadlines regarding upcoming University Scholarships. See attached documents.
Potential applicants can search the scholarships that are available to first-year students at Ontario’s universities. Students can search by university, annual dollar value range, required grade range and other useful criteria. By performing multiple searches, students can ensure that they find all the scholarships available to them.
Check your college/university websites for information on awards/scholarships specific to your program and school. Apply by the deadline; obtain transcripts, letters of reference, etc. Let the Guidance Counsellors know you want to be nominated for specific awards and submit an up-to-date resume as soon as possible. Responsibilities of the student:
- Search various sources, websites, etc. for awards and scholarships.
- Check the awards for due dates and eligibility/criteria.
- Obtain the complete application form and procedures, available from the Guidance Office or download from websites.
- Complete the required information:
- entire application form, personal information, etc.
- obtain letters of reference, if required (ask early from your sources)
- essay, if required (typed and proof-read)
- school recommendation, if required, a signature or letter, ask a Counsellor
- up to date transcript, ask a Counsellor
- mail or submit online before due date

Resumes
Prepare a resume. It will be an invaluable tool for job searches, award and scholarship applications. Keep it on file and update as you complete activities. Provide copies to the people who are writing your letters of recommendation so that they know more about you. Resumes can be prepared in this format.
Community Awards
An application form must be submitted to the Guidance Office for consideration for community awards offered for graduating students. These awards are given out at the annual graduation ceremonies. For a copy of the application, please download the Scholarship Profile (see below) and email to [email protected].

Proficiency Awards
An average of 80% must have been attained in the required number of subjects taken that school year. These awards are given at the Junior Awards assembly and at the graduation ceremonies.
Year 1 – A student must have successfully completed 8 courses and the best 7 courses are used to calculate the student’s average.
Year 2 – A student must have successfully completed 8 courses and the best 7 courses are used to calculate the student’s average.
Year 3 – A student must have successfully completed 7 senior courses (grade 11 and 12 courses) and the best 6 senior courses are used to calculate the student’s average.
Year 4 – A student must have successfully completed 6 senior courses (grade 11 and 12 courses) and the best 6 senior courses are used to calculate the student’s average.
Ontario Scholars – A student has earned Ontario Scholar recognition when the student has been recommended for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and the best 6 grade 12 courses are calculated to be 80% or higher.
